Research Interests
My interests are in the application of statistical methods for investigating and characterizing health risks in occupational and environmental cohorts. Serving in the capacities of co-principal and co-investigator, I have been involved in a number of large scale occupational studies evaluating the health risks of workers employed in the aluminum, chemical, high nickel alloys, and steel industries. Over the years, my involvement includes clinical projects assessing the treatment and diagnostic modalities of diseases in the oncology and general medicine disciplines. I have interests in the development and application of emerging computer technology to biostatistical problems found in the health sciences. I am involved in developing computer intensive methods to evaluate and enhance the predictive ability of structural activity relationship (SAR) models used to assess potential health risk effects. I am also interested in the assessment and development of statistical methods in time series analysis that evaluate the health effects of air pollution. Most recently, my research has investigated the etiology and prevention of diabetes. I direct the data management and analysis group for a 30+ year longitudinal study of juvenile onset diabetes.
